Covid-19 Advice for Hotel Guests

With the current worldwide Coronavirus outbreak causing uncertainty and disruption to the hotel and travel industry we would like to offer the following advice to future guests who have bookings with us or to those looking to book.


Advice for all guests

If you or anyone you are travelling with develop the symptoms associated with coronavirus, which include a dry cough, shortness of breath and/or a fever, please do not travel. Follow the advice given by the World Health Organisation/your countries government.


Advice for bookings made before 16th March 2020

If you have a hotel reservation that was made with us before 16th March 2020 that is likely to be affected by coronavirus, either as a result of travel disruption, government advice, cancelled events/plans or because you or your household are self-isolating, contact us either via phone on 01524 65007 or via email at so our staff can advise you on booking cancellations. the waiving of cancellation fees are being reviewed on a case by case basis.


Advice for bookings made on or after 16th March 2020

In response to the developing situation, we have adjusted our free cancellation period for rooms booked at our standard rate (not non-refundable) on or after 16th March 2020 from 48 hours to 24 hours before check in. Any bookings canceled with us 24 hours before 3pm on the day of check in will be cancelled free of charge. Any bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before 3pm on the day of check in will be charged for the first night of the stay. Any bookings not cancelled, but where the guest fails to show for the booking will be charged at the full length of the stay.

Non-refundable rate bookings booked on or after 16th March 2020 will not be refunded regardless of when they are cancelled.

Given the widespread coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic, we trust that those booking rooms with us on or after 16th March 2020 are booking with a prior understanding that their trip may be disrupted, and that this disruption comes with the risk of having to cancel a booking that may fall outside of our free cancellation period.

As the Covid-19 situation in the UK progresses, we may change our advice for guests and travellers.


Cleanliness and Hygiene

The team at The Royal and QuickStart Cleaning who look after the housekeeping in the hotel, are doing everything to ensure the hotel and bar remain safe, clean and sanitary. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly during and after guests stay, with anti-bacterial cleaning products used throughout the hotel, bar and kitchen. Staff have been properly instructed on the importance of cleanliness, and regular handwashing. There are currently no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Lancaster.

In line with the UK Governments advice, the bar and restaurant are closed until further notice
